Nampeyo corrugated jar, c. 1915
This Hopi jar measures 3.75" X 7.75", native clay and paints, c. 1915, excellent condition, one chip on the rim, made by Master Potter Nampeyo.
Nampeyo has a wide creative range in her body of work but this is the first I have seen that is corrugated. The painting is identifiably hers and this is another example of her extraordinary artistry.
The "Hopi Villages" tag is from the Fred Harvey Company that marketed her wares.
