This is a late classic Navajo "Moki” serape c. 1865-75, 50" x 73, hand-spun, natural white, brown and indigo dyed blue and green. The red is ravelled bayeta with cochineal dye, excellent/original condition. Price Upon Request

The feel and lustrous look of the wool is what one expects in a wearing blanket, soft, supple, elegant to the hand.

There is the classic, 5-banded layout. However, the middle three bands are the more ornamental. The effect when displayed on a wall is that of more negative space and accentuates the ornamental bands. This is more understated, visually accessible. An example of the serape on a wall is included.
