This is a Navajo rug in the style of a Ladies Chief's blanket. The dimensions are 45" x 62", native, handspun yarn, analine dyed red and blue, excellent condition, artist unknown, c. 1900's.
The Classic Navajo wearing blankets consisted of four basic templates: the serape, the men's chief's, the ladies chief's and the ladies blanket. This 3rd Phase Ladies Chief's design is simple and compelling.
