Master Weaver Frances Manuelito
This rug measures 59" x 83", hand-spun, natural wool, c. 1930's, excellent condition, woven by Master Weaver Frances Manuelito.
Frances was the daughter of Master Weaver Blind Man's Wife, one of the two earliest design pioneers of regional, Navajo rugs. This design is one her Mother derived from J. B. Moore Plate XXVII. "The Master Weavers" by Mark Winter details this journey in Plates 61, 62 and 63. They were woven in that order.
Frances frequently wove her version of her Mother's designs, this is one of them.
