Maria Martinez is the best known Native potter. She, Margaret Tafoya and the Hopi potter, Nampeyo constitute the unquestioned legendary Native potters.
Maria worked consecutively with her husband, Julian, her son, Popovi Da and her daughter-in-law, Santana. There are exceptions but these three artist painted the majority of her ceramics.
This piece has graceful body with an elegant neck. There is some gunmetal sheen, adding a bit of brilliance.
