Tony Da, Bear figure
This San Ildefonso ceramic bear figure measures 5.25" x 7" x 4.25", native clay, inlaid turquoise, hsi beads flint arrowhead, c. 1960's, excellent condition, by Tony Da.
The body of work by Tony Da is prized by Native ceramic collectors above all others. Auction records will bear this out. He is the grandson of Legendary Master Potter, Maria Martinez and the son of Popovi Da. The work of Popovi and Maria is the most sought after of Maria’s body of work. Thus Tony Da, unlike the progeny of many masters, is the distilled genius of two masters.
Bear figures are fairly rare in Tony's body of work. This one is exquisitely conceived and executed. A photo of the signature is included and photos from other angles are available.
