Late Classic Single Sunday Saddle
This saddle blanket measures 25" x 33", red bayeta with some cochineal, indigo blue and aniline yellow, c. 1875, excellent condition, artist unknown.
How often will you see a horse blanket from the 1870's? In this condition?! This would have been a high-status textile for a Navajo or any Native in it's day.
Look closely and you can find the "intentional flaw" that would later become the "spirit line." This is an exceptional ethnographic, equine relic.
