This Late Clssic Navajo blanket measures 50" x 67", natural hand-spun brown, white and blue, the blue is indigo dyed. The red/orange is re-carded material, c. 1870's, artist unknown, very good condition.

This Navajo blanket is woven in the preferred style of the Hopi. Thus,it is called a Moki. Just as the Navajo call themselves Dineh, the Hopi call themselves Moqui. The heavy brown and blue/indigo stripes are what distinguish it as Moki. It bears the typical 5 bands of a Navajo wearing blanket. The body of the blanket is in excellent condition, full and fluffy and the indigo and brown striping is especially finely woven.
