This Red Mesa rug measures 52" x 83", handspun yarn, natural brown, black and white, all other colors hand-dyed, excellent condition, c. 1920, artist unknown.
This is an excellent eye-dazzler, derived from the earlier Germantown eye-dazzlers. A very high degree of weaving skill is required to execute a textile of this complexity while retaining a strong overall sense of design. It is a masterful work.
