Teec Nos Pos, c. 1920's

This Navajo rug is from the Teec Nos Pos region of Arizona. The dimensions are 37" x 59", handspun yarn, hand-dyed red, yellow, green, orange, burgundy, all other colors natural, c. 1920's, artist unknown.

This is a sweet, little Teec. It has a 3 column layout that was common in the 20's, 30's and 40's. The presence of the opposing half diamond on either side of the center pays homage to the garment weaving days. These disappear almost entirely by 1950. The "lightning" in the top/bottom Vallero stars lends an especially kinetic quality to this medium-sized masterpiece.
Price: $5,800.00
