Transitional Wearing blanket

Transitional Wearing blanket

This is a Navajo transitional wearing blanket. The dimensions are 51" x 64", native handspun yarn, analine dyed orange, merino wool, excellent condition, artist unknown, c. 1880's.

This is an easy piece to enjoy. The wool is soft and silky, too late to be Spanish Churro but the Merino that came in thereafter were the prized wool sheep of the Spanish.

This is an ethnographic blanket. It was not woven for a white guy's floor, it was woven by a Navajo woman for a Navajo woman. The dimensions of it are too small for most Navajo men. There is shoulder wear in this piece, badges of authenticity!
Price: $4,800.00
