Zuni Dugh Bowl, c. 1870's
This Zuni dough bowl is 5" x 12", c. 1870's, excellent condition with documented repair.
Examples of this artistic quality from this period are extremely rare. This piece came from Dwight Lanmon's personal collection. Dwight, along with Francis H. Harlow, wrote "The Pottery of Zuni Pueblo." This is the definitive work on Zuni pottery. I was impressed with the artistic range that was unknown to me before reading the book. This piece is an example of the pottery from the mid 19th century.
Dwight chose not to put his personal collection in the book. This piece has not been on the market for a long while and would be a premier work in any collection of Native or Zuni pottery.
