Teec Nos Pos Navajo weaving, c. 1930's, 49" x 76", excellent conditon.
This rug has a 3 Column configuration that disappeared around 1950.
The opposing elements on either end of the center suggest human figures. At this time figural weaving was very controversial and one can see the weaver approaching the threshold of figures but cautiously backed off. She may have had the Navajo "Twins" in mind. The mystery is part of the fun.
It's beautiful enough for the wall, tough enough for the floor.
